The 2012 Holiday Ale Festival, now in its 17th year, kicks off Wednesday, November 28th at noon. The five-day festival takes place in downtown Portland at Pioneer Courthouse Square beneath the glow of the region’s largest decorated Christmas tree. Large clear-topped tents cover the entire space and along with gas heaters will keep festival goers cozy. Over 50 beers, including daily special tappings, have been gathered for the festival and range from Belgians to Barleywines to Cascadian Dark Ales (CDAs).

Attendees have two package options to choose from – general admission and VIP, priced at $30 and $65 respectively. General admission packages include a tasting mug and 10 taster tickets. VIP packages include tasting mug, 28 taster tickets, bottle of water and access to VIP lines. Most beers will cost one ticket per four-ounce taste or four tickets for a full mug. Special tapping and limited release beers may cost double tickets. Additional tickets will be available for purchase for $1.

A full list of beers is available on the festival website for those interested in a preview of the lineup. While at the festival attendees can keep up to date on beer tappings and more by using the mobile edition of the website.
